I grew up Catholic. When I turned 18, I left Catholicism. A few years later, I became involved with the Worldwide Church of God where I accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior. When I recognized the legalism, I left this church to go into mainstream churches where I experienced mystical practices… word-faith beliefs… “rescue-the-world for God”… “signs and wonders”.
I come from Greek heritage… so… I have always loved the pursuit of wisdom. Growing up… my dad had always encouraged me to check out the Word of God for myself… not to just accept what a priest or preacher was saying. This belief helped keep me somewhat in the Word of God as I trekked on through the cults and the exposure to the “weird beliefs” later on. By God’s grace, this “grounding” has helped keep me on track—my eyes on Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior.
I could go into my accomplishments… but, it’s not about what I’ve done… it’s about what the Holy Spirit is speaking to you… and me… through God’s Word. He’s the teacher… not me. And… He teaches what Jesus Christ has done for us at the cross—He shed is blood for forgiveness of our sins. He teaches… we have to act… we have to accept Christ’s sacrifice to have Eternal Life.
Besides… I’m in good company with others hoping of better days ahead when I read… not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty (1 Corinthians 1:26-28).
Do I always get it right? No… I’m still learning and growing in Christ. My flesh, pride, and ignorance sometimes interfere… so… prayerfully check out the Word of God for yourself.
I’m just a “kid in school” anticipating “graduation day”… when Christ comes calling for me from the grave… or… the four winds—the resurrection to my hope… a Life with the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob… the God of Israel… in the New Jerusalem—Eternity.
