The Road Home

tunnel of light

Life is hard and full of strife… then we die.  This was the conclusion of a very wise and wealthy leader, King Solomon, as described in the book of Ecclesiastes.

Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity. (Ecclesiastes 1:2)

I’ve searched for “Life”—the sense that it’s getting better and the best is yet to come—in relationships… career… money… etc.  I’ve found… when I’m having a bad day, those I count on may be having one, too… when I’ve made it to the top, the “thrill” leaves quickly because someone shows up that can do it faster and better… when I have money, someone is trying to get it.

As I get older… I have to work harder for less-and-less of a return.

My body… the blond beauty… the new car… the Earth… they deteriorate and there’s no stopping it.  I will die… the blond will become a white-haired old lady… the car will be crushed for scrap… the Earth will “shake… rattle… and roll—it will melt”All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again… (Ecclesiastes 3:20).

What’s the point of life then?

Does someone have the solution to this dilemma?  If so, who is He…?

One came to disrupt the law of gravity.  His Name is… Jesus Christ—God who was born fully a man while remaining fully God… the only Begotten Son of God.  He willingly laid down His life by shedding His blood at the cross for the forgiveness of our sins. You can ask Him to forgive your sins by accepting His sacrifice… and, asking Him into your life as your Savior.  If you’ve asked… and, engage in a relationship with Him… He will live His Life in you through the Holy Spirit of God He’s placed in your heart.

I have!

Inside me… as the Life of Jesus Christ grows and lives… He is revealed more to me.  My experience of peace and hope continues to grow… and, the mysteries of life continue to be revealed.

It’s getting better in my heart as I live—the opposite of the “pull of gravity”.  And… as they say in the south when waiting for dessert… hold onto your fork because the best is yet to come—I look forward to His promise of a New Earth where life will be beyond the greatest!

Compared to what the “world” offers… the pull of gravity… ultimately ending up in deaththe second death—everlasting destruction in the Lake of Fire—perdition… I’m glad I chose the Life… Jesus Christ!

Do you want to choose… The Way… The Truth… The Life?

And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen. Matthew 28:18-20

Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Acts 2:38

He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. John 3:36

The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name…

And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.  Revelation 14:10-11; 20:14-15

A personal saying of mine… life works until… it doesn’t.  What’s your plan?

19 And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. 20 But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? 21 So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.  Luke 12:19-21

27 For, lo, they that are far from thee shall perish: thou hast destroyed all them that go a whoring from thee. 28 But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord God, that I may declare all thy works.  Psalm 73:27-28

Remember… they laughed at Noah… until… they didn’t!
